Another Day in the Neighborhood

Hi!

Yesterday I wrote some good words.

104 fiction words, 373 total words

Today I check out Whole Foods for the first time, Costco with Mom (because it’s been a while), and then relax, I think. I suppose it depends on when I get home.

I’ve had one cup of coffee and I’ll need to get another one of those down if I want to operate at peak capacity. I should probably not drink even that much, but I just don’t care right now.

So there!

Yesterday and Laudry

Yesterday I was so very tired, so I went to bed with everyone at 9 p.m. That meant no writing.

0 fiction words, 214 total words

It also meant like 12 hours of sleep, which was rather fabulous. I did love that.

Today meant laundry with Junior Youth, who was not terribly thrilled with the idea of doing laundry, but did enjoy films – both Catching Fire and Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken. Good choices, really. Strong women.

I am about to watch Center Stage, myself. Sometimes Vudu has $6.99 movies that aren’t in your library, and I took advantage of the offer to patch that hole.

Let’s see – today I discovered Elias Market with my mom. I managed to get out with only $20 worth of produce, and I found both chia and flax seeds, both of which I’m not entirely prepared to deal with quite yet, but I will be soon. Also more bananas, replacement sweet potatoes, massive cucumbers, grapes (delicious grapes), baby carrots…

I’m not practiced enough to know whether it was a good deal, but I trusted my shopping partner to say it was.

Now that laundry’s done, I have some relaxing to do. I’m going to get some fiction in, too. It’s necessary and has been badly neglected. Which is actually how I tend to always feel (that it’s been neglected). I think I’m going to stop feeling that way. While I do want to write more daily, beating myself up over not writing enough isn’t helping. I’m very happy with myself for writing nearly daily for the entire year. I look forward to finishing this story before November and NaNo.

Unbreaking things

I don’t know how I managed quite so many years without a single problem on Off the Beaten Plan. Knowing that too many plugins and such can break a blog, I try not to do anything I don’t understand, or am unfamiliar with.

Imagine my surprise when I found my blog broken-ish for much of yesterday.

Worse, this morning, when it was broken completely.

Fixing WordPress isn’t easy, and there’s not a lot of resources that are clear on what might fix the issues. I took advantage of the WordPress Codex on common errors (along with several websites that offered the same advice), and finally, this morning, managed to get things sorted out.

I also spent much of my evening yesterday with my daughter shopping for news shoes, hopefully to alleviate the foot pain she’s been experiencing. We bought a nice pair of ryka’s, but had to travel across the Valley to do so, and got back quite late. Though the trip was ultimately successful, it was a late night. Piling the intermittent service with the blog, my word count was awful.

But damn it, I wrote. 30 words of fiction, and (somehow) 237 words of blogging. And this morning, I fixed the blog. Hopefully now will all be right in my world, because the entire process angered me greatly. I’m determined not to let it bleed over into the rest of the day. I shall say no more.

Happy Tuesday!
