Still not published, but writing

450 fiction words, 764 total words, 1.5 hours formatting

I wasn’t going to start writing until I got Space Cats published, but then yesterday I found myself with some free time and only the writing computer available for use, so I started writing something that got started on Facebook. It’ll be fun, but I need to flush out a lot of the details. Even what I wrote yesterday will need a complete overhaul.

But in a good way, you know?

So yesterday was 450 fiction words, 764 total words, and 1.5 hours of formatting. Today will probably be similar if I can stay away from an overdose of Minecraft.

Should be easy.

Z is for Zombies – #AtoZChallenge

Greetings and salutations! Please enjoy this selection from A Brief History of Space Cats, and the Care and Feeding Thereof by Sarah Ever.  Written by the main character from Space Cats from Space, these entries form a resource for feline companions to help them ease the transition from cat “owner” to their true role as caretaker and, possibly, human slave. Making the fabrics clean

332 total words, 1.5 hours formatting

Another day, another load of laundry.

I’m a little foggy today, needing to work harder to make my brain work to do the things I usually don’t have to think about. Don’t like it, I don’t.

Yesterday I got quite a bit accomplished in the way of formatting the interior of Space Cats. So with The 27th Letter, I did quite a bit of odd formatting to the book. I had a large bottom margin and wide edges, mostly because I could. I’m not doing anything like that this time. Normal margins, putting my name and book title at proper positions and such. That, of course, makes me want to sneak in something really special design-wise. Drop caps are nice but aren’t doing enough for me.

I’ll start flipping through some of the books on my shelves and figure out something nice.

I wrote 332 blog words yesterday and spent 1.5 hours on formatting for the print book. The formatting for the ebook has been done for quite some time, so the current plan is to finish print book formatting, do print cover, take ebook cover from that, and then publish. I was hoping to be done by May 1st, but I don’t think I’m going to get there. Especially because I must order a proof copy. I always find things in the proof copy to fix.

I may start working on a new piece of writing today, too. I’ve brought Elder Youth to do laundry with me, and he’s interested in the computer. In order to stay productive, you know.

Peaches and Spot

347 total words, 0 hours editing

Yesterday was a thing.

About 3 pm I started feeling the start of a sick creeping up on me, which was about the same time I got the most amazing, tomato-based crab bisque for lunch.

On the way home from work, I’m driving but can feel my brakes pulling at my car. That’s not right, I think to myself. And when I stop to wait for traffic, there’s smoke. Especially not right. But there’s no good place to pull off, so I drove a little farther, trying to decide if the feeling has gone away or lessened somehow.

Yeah, no. It hadn’t. So I called the shop that just replaced the brakes and they were like, yeah, not right. And I called AAA to come pick Spot and I up because the amount of smoke from the brakes really was quite alarming. And I made another call to arrange a car for today until the shop is done with mine.

I got home two hours late. I didn’t push through the sick, just sort of languished in it, watched a little Minecraft, and went to bed early. I got 347 total words and nothing moved closer to publication unless you want to count the time I spent looking for (and finding) interesting stock images. In fact, I do want to count that.

At any rate, I’m here. Peaches is here (the car I borrowed). And I’m naming all cars after cats. And I’ve had a lot of cats, so I have lots of names to use.
