Packing up the supplies

I’m amazed at how a closet full of supplies can be condensed down into two plastic storage tubs. Admittedly, the toner, envelopes, and folders that didn’t get packed into tubs take up more space than that, but all the little things scattered all over? Two tubs.

Oh, and three trips to the dumpster.

I wrote a bit today, but not the way I would have liked. It was lots of rushing shortly before bed, instead of taking my time and then enjoying some TV as a break.

I wrote 218 blog words, and 626 fiction words. I put my character in the hospital, and now I’m trying to talk her way out of it. I’m pretty sure I’ve just drug in another collaborator into this little secret she’s got, but I haven’t figured out when it’ll be necessary to drag the character into the limelight. If at all.

Today involves a quick meeting, a truck, more packing, and less moving than previously anticipated. One does not want to rush the inspectors, you see.

*smh*

A (surprisingly) good week

I shouldn’t be surprised, though. It’s what I should expect from myself every week.

It was busy, though. Not your usual, boring, go-to-work-come-home-write-sleep-wake-up-write series of days.

Tuesday involved a lot of steps, stairs, and lifting.

Friday involved a lot of interruptions.

Saturday and Sunday didn’t involve a usual trip for laundry – my husband took care of that for me.

But it wound up being good for words.

Weekly total words: 6,611
Weekly total fiction words: 4,732
Weekly total blog words: 1,879

This week’s average word count: 944

The last two days especially have been good, both topping 1,000 for the first time in more than two weeks. Maybe I had just hit the 1/3 point of the story, and that was the reason for the slowdown. Whatever the case, I’m glad things are picking up again.

Here’s hoping today is just as good as the past two days!

Late Start

I slept in this morning until about 10:30, which was fabulous because I love sleep. I wish there was a way to enjoy sleep without losing time, because I want the enjoyment of sleep and to get all the things done. Alas, that is not currently how things work. I’ll just have to keep working the way things are.

Yesterday went well. I got a bunch of errands done including a return (money in my pocket) and a purchase (money right back out of my pocket). I spent some time at Wegman’s writing, since I missed meeting my writing group there on Tuesday, but actually got a lot more done at home than out.

I wrote 255 blog words yesterday. The photo post actually was made after midnight, but I hadn’t gone to bed yet so I fudged the post time to make it before midnight. Before bed is still the current day, even if the clock says otherwise.

And I got a thrilling 1,251 fiction words in! The chapter I was working on went well, so I polished that off in the morning. It was when I went to Wegman’s that I had trouble focusing over the Nick Junior TV in the area I was seated in.I think what I’m most looking forward to right now is having my parents finish moving in so I can return the things of theirs that I have stashed under my desk. I’ll re-clear the surface, get the old computer set up, and have a writing desk that doesn’t face the TV. Oh, and I need to ask a friend to make the Internet go away on that computer completely. Apparently, it’s not hard, but if I know how it’s done then I’ll be able to turn it back on. I don’t want that. I want distraction free writing. My self-control just needs a little boost in this department.

Today I’d like to finish another chapter. Hopefully, that means another 1,000 plus for today’s count. Fingers crossed!

A day where everything was evil

I’m so glad yesterday is over. It was one of those days where my nerves were close to the surface. Everything was irritating.

My phone wouldn’t stop ringing. I kept getting texts. Problems kept cropping up. There was a time deadline on a project I was working on that was constantly interrupted. My bra broke at the office. And then when I was ready to leave, I remembered something I forgot, and then was interrupted twice more on the way to do that one last thing.

ARGH.

There was one good thing about yesterday, and that was that on the way home, I thought of a really good story title. I’m certain my idea of a great title varies greatly from that of others. It’s kind of long, sort of rambly, and gives absolutely no clue as to the content of the story. I think it will be an office hate story. We’ll see.

Since yesterday is over now, today will be great. And actually, yesterday in terms of words wasn’t that bad. My blog words were low at 159, but my fiction was higher than it has been lately at 751. I  may not be able to write all morning today like I’d planned (because the morning is already almost over), but I will have lots of time to sit down and put words on the screen, and I want to do that.

I even managed to turn off Mad Men. Victory!

I hope everyone has (or has had) a lovely Saturday!

Play That Song

Catchy “Heart & Soul” song by Train, titled “Play That Song” is in my head. It’s one of those songs that the first moment I heard it, I knew I loved it. I have it on repeat for the day.

Yesterday was a fine day as days go. I don’t remember too much that was noteworthy, to be honest.

I wrote 272 blog words yesterday and 516 of fiction.

That’s about all there is to report. Today will be busy at the office, and I’ve started out in a foul mood. And for some reason, my Tumblr Publicize setting isn’t working here in WordPress, and that’s just the icing on the cake to watch that bold red line asking me to do something it won’t let me successfully manage.

Grr fucking rrr.
